I have been a lawyer for 48 years. I have eight years’ experience in trial work in various contexts, the other forty years were spent in corporations as General Counsel or Chief Legal Officer managing the legal, risk management, compliance, security, human resources, mergers and acquisitions, boards of directors, and insurance sectors I have been an active participant in captive insurance companies since 2003.

I am generally easy going and collaborative in all aspects of my legal work, but I can become extremely aggressive if I encounter bad behavior that negatively affects my clients.  Because of my trial experience I am not afraid to litigate matters that cannot be resolved amicably and where the law is in my clients’ favor. 

Having worked as Executive Vice President and part of the senior staff in two public companies (Centronics (NYSE: “CEN”) and EKCO Group (NYSE:”EKO”) and an internationally renowned Health System (Tufts Medicine) I understand and respect the importance of being as efficient and resourceful to minimize unnecessary costs and time for my clients.
 
Negotiating and drafting complex business arrangements and transactions, mergers and acquisitions, compliance with federal and state regulations, real estate and employment, litigation management, risk and enterprise risk management and corporate governance are among the areas of my expertise. I have applied these skills in industries ranging from manufacturing, marketing and distribution of consumer and high technology products as well as healthcare institutions and providers including clinical affiliations, mergers and acquisitions, research, and commercialization of inventions.
Respect for the rule of law and my confidence in the judicial system has allowed me to represent clients successfully in many varied situations and settings.  Many of those were cases of first impression where I worked through complex issues and obtained successful outcomes for my clients.  Due to my extensive experiences, I have developed judgment that brings into high relief the importance of doing what is best for clients and their interests especially in areas where there are overlapping legal issues. 

I have also been an assistant professor in the department of medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and taught Health Law at Cornell University. 

I was born in NYC but spent my first 9 and ½ years living in Lima Peru.  There I learned how to speak Spanish, respect a diverse population, and enjoy spicy foods.  From the age of ten, after watching To Kill a Mockingbird with my parents, I declared that I was going to be a lawyer.  Now sixty years later I proudly say I have been a lawyer for 48 years and still counting.

As a husband and father of three, and a grandfather of three, I relish time spent with my family.  I am an avid golfer and boatsman and have been active in various capacities in non-profits in New Hampshire and Massachusetts
