I advocate for a range of businesses, professionals and individuals before trial and appeals courts, working as a team with my client to employ risk-based strategies to achieve the best outcome – whether that means going to mediation, negotiating a plea or going to trial.
I began practicing criminal law in the Homicide Unit of the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. From there, I moved on to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, where I handled matters ranging from misdemeanors to violent felonies. When I moved back to my home state of New Hampshire in 2020, I made the switch to criminal defense and have not looked back. Having seen all manner of criminal cases from the perspective of the prosecution and the defense, I understand what is important to a judge, jury, and most importantly, my client.
Bringing with me the courtroom experience I gained from criminal law, I have developed a broad litigation practice. I have helped resolve a diverse set of complex legal issues for equipment dealers, manufacturers, municipal risk pools and educational institutions: including cases defending mass-tort allegations from many hundreds of claimants. I find great purpose in defending media companies and journalists against claims of defamation, protecting their right to fairly and accurately report the news under the First Amendment Press Privilege. I have appeared in the District, Superior and Supreme Court of New Hampshire, as well as the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire.
At the same time, I advocate for families facing divorce and domestic violence. The trauma and confusion related to these life-changing criminal and family matters must be met with compassion, empathy, and a clear sense of direction from trusted counsel. I understand the unique set of legal, psychological, social and financial issues that arise under these circumstances, and work steadfastly with my clients throughout the process to obtain enduring safety and security in their lives. This work is very meaningful to me.
I support my community in my work as a volunteer Wildlife Rehabilitator and Board Member of the New Hampshire Veterinary Center for Wildlife. I am a member of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association, Daniel Webster Inn of Court, a volunteer attorney for 603 Legal Aid’s Domestic Violence Emergency Project (DOVE), and a past member of the New Hampshire Supreme Court Ethics Committee.
I currently live in Sutton, New Hampshire, not too far from where I grew up in Hopkinton. When I am not working, I devote all of my free time to my partner, Sarah, my rescue dog, Alma, and working on my little 1940’s cottage by the lake. In the summer, you can find me paddle boarding and listening to the nesting Loon families. In the winter – on the slopes of Mount Sunapee!
