2022 Developments In NH Taxation



Devine Millimet's Tax Team invites you and your colleagues to attend our annual New Hampshire tax update program which will again be presented as a complimentary webinar. This update seminar is intended to be a pre-season warm-up on developments in New Hampshire's tax laws from 2022 including legislative and regulatory changes, both from a compliance and a planning perspective. We'll also review technical information releases for the year and discuss current NH audit issues.  From a planning perspective we will be looking at New Hampshire’s treatment of personal goodwill as well as the New Hampshire tax effects of a “stock” sale structure sometimes promulgated by out-of-state buyers. 

The webinar will be held online the morning of January 11, 2023 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Eastern.

Jon B. Sparkman, Esq., CPA

Jon is a Shareholder and chair of the Firm's Tax Practice Group. In his tax practice, Jon represents businesses of all sizes in tax planning as well as in audits and administrative appeals of New Hampshire tax matters before the State of New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration. Serving as outside general counsel to businesses and non-profit organizations, Jon's business law practice combines his past tax experience and background as a CPA to provide clients with practical, real-world advice that both meets the client's strategic objectives while managing risks at an acceptable level.

Maurice P. Gilbert, CPA, MST

Maurice has more than 40 years of tax experience, 25 years of which were with the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration in various roles, including director of the audit division. Maurice provides businesses and individuals advice on state tax planning relating to mergers, acquisitions, or the sale of a business by identifying potential personal income, corporate income and sales & use tax compliance issues as Devine Millimet's Director of State Taxation. He represents individuals, corporations, partnerships, and LLCs before the IRS and State Departments of Revenue on various tax matters. Maurice's knowledge of the ever-changing tax laws and regulations help him determine a client's actual or potential multistate tax exposure, and his experience in New Hampshire's unique tax provisions is especially valuable to the personal service, construction, real estate, technology, hospitality, and manufacturing industries navigating the state's tax requirements.

Nicole M. Bodoh, Esq., LL.M.

Nicole is a Shareholder of the firm and practices in the areas of taxation, regulatory compliance and mergers and acquisitions. Nicole identifies tax consequences associated with several types of business transactions and advises her clients as to methods of increasing tax efficiency. She also handles a broad range of tax compliance issues including compliance of qualified employee benefit plans with the requirements of the Internal Revenue Code and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). She also focuses on tax issues specific to New Hampshire residents and businesses. Nicole counsels a variety of business entities across multiple industries, as well as individuals. Nicole’s practice combines her knowledge and experience in the area of corporate law with her fundamental understanding of tax principles gained as an LL.M. graduate.
