I have practiced employment and labor law since 2013, first in New York, then in Maine, and now in New Hampshire for Devine Millimet. My goal is to help my clients achieve their business objectives through compliance with all federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, and the creation of internal policies and employee handbooks to support the business's mission. I also assist clients with responding to employment litigation, workplace investigations, and negotiating settlements, and have experience advising clients of all sizes, from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, public sector institutions, and non-profits. Understanding the day-to-day reality and long-term plan for each unique client is always a priority.
In a previous role, I served as in-house counsel for a large public university system, advising on varied matters including the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work, workplace leaves and accomodations, crisis management, and the full span of employment litigation. I also have significant experience representing clients in arbitration and before Human Rights Commissions and the EEOC. Tracking new employment legislation at the state and federal levels, and advising on the potential impact for employers is another way that I provide preventative advice and counsel to clients.
Having studied abroad in Argentina and Mexico, I speak Spanish fluently and enjoy learning about other cultures. Spanish translation and interpretation is another tool in my kit to assist clients with diverse workforces.
On a personal level, I am a proud aunt to three nephews and one niece, and enjoy spending time on the Maine seacoast with my immediate and extended family and friends. I volunteer regularly with the American Red Cross and support various local community poverty reduction initiatives, including the United Way.
