We do not hire more associates than we anticipate we will need, intending to thin out the associate class in coming years, but rather look at each associate as a valued addition to our firm with whom we hope to practice for years. New associates join Devine Millimet as individuals who will be either practicing primarily in litigation or whose practice will focus on corporate and business law. New associates are typically placed in either our Manchester, New Hampshire office or our Andover, Massachusetts office. Each new associate is given a mentor within the practice group in which the associate will be working, and this mentor works with the associate to nurture his or her development.

Devine Millimet looks for individuals who have a proven track record of success and who have excelled in the various pursuits in which they have engaged prior to and during law school. We believe that valuable job experiences prior to law school often help form a more well-rounded attorney, but this is by no means a necessary pre-requisite to joining our firm. Additional desirable characteristics include excellent academic credentials, valuable legal experience and a history of community participation. As a new associate at Devine Millimet, you will not spend the first several years of your practice only in the library doing research. Instead, you will immediately begin client interaction, integrating your legal research into direct client contact. We believe in giving an associate as much responsibility as he or she can handle.
