  • Provide governmental relations services to the New Hampshire Health Care Association, the organization which includes virtually all New Hampshire nursing homes and many of the state's largest assisted living facilities. Among the achievements of NHHCA during the last several years have been the enactment of a Medicaid Quality Incentive Program which adds $25,000,000 per year in Medicaid funding to nursing homes; successful opposition to attempts to divert that money away from nursing homes; and the addition of $16,000,000 in new nursing home funding in the biennial budget passed by the Legislature in 2005.
  • Assist nursing homes in administrative matters before the New Hampshire Department of Health & Human Services in matters such as challenges to penalties assessed following Medicaid compliance surveys, and appeals of rate determinations.
  • Represent the New Hampshire Association of Counties in a declaratory judgment action brought by the Association to determine the proper interpretation of state Medicaid funding statutes.
  • Acting as counsel in the defeasance of existing debt structures and acquiring financing.
  • Provide training for nursing home administrators in areas such as HIPAA, employment law, and identification of financial abuse of the elderly.
  • Provide risk management and quality assurance guidance on matters arising in day-to-day operations and rendering of medical services.
  • Provide advice and support to employers facing employee discipline and termination issues.
  • Assist employers with preventative measures such as drafting and revising policies, procedures, and handbooks.
  • Represent facilities in the defense of medical malpractice actions.
