Peter is a trial attorney and shareholder of the firm representing law firms, businesses and individuals in environmental litigation matters, professional negligence claims, professional disciplinary proceedings and Brownfields transactions. With over thirty years of experience in representing the State of New Hampshire, the federal government, businesses, educational institutions and law firms in northern New England, Peter's practice now focuses on the most complex and demanding transactional and litigation matters.
Peter's environmental experience includes four years as Director of the federal Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Criminal Enforcement and extensive environmental trial work for the United States Department of Justice and the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. He also regularly represents businesses and individuals in connection with the liabilities associated with the acquisition and development of contaminated properties. He has taught at national conferences on environmental criminal enforcement and has been listed in Woodward/White's Best Lawyers in America (2005-06 Edition) in New Hampshire in the field of environmental law. Peter's experience places him in a unique position to represent business clients in connection with state and federal regulatory, civil and criminal proceedings, and to provide advice on liability issues associated with commercial Brownfields transactions.
Peter's practice includes substantial work on behalf of attorneys and law firms involved in professional negligence and disciplinary proceedings. He writes and lectures frequently before bar association gatherings and at the Franklin Pierce Law Center in the fields of legal malpractice and ethics, provides regular training and advice within the firm on risk management issues, and is currently listed in Woodward/White's Best Lawyers in America (2006-07 Edition) in New Hampshire in the field of legal malpractice litigation. Peter is an active member of the New Hampshire Bar Association's Ethics Committee, the ABA's Center for Professional Responsibility and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers. Through these efforts, he has gained widespread respect in the State's legal community as a "lawyer's lawyer."
